SWINGOLOGY is very excited to announce that our debut CD "Swingology" has been nominated by the East Coast Music Accociation for an award in the Jazz Recording of the Year category. The CD was selected as Jazz/Electro-Acoustic Artist/Group Recording of the year at Nova Scotia Music Week 2008. We are incredibly honoured to have received this recognition for our brand of gypsy jazz from the Nova Scotia music community.

SWINGOLOGY, a new band based in and around Windsor, Nova Scotia, plays gypsy swing in the tradition of the legendary gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt. Django revolutionized music in the 1930’s by blending the swing of jazz with gypsy passion and Parisian musette dance music to create a unique style now called gypsy swing (or gypsy jazz). Together with violinist Stephane Grappelli, Django founded the Quintet of the Hot Club of France, probably the greatest of the European jazz bands. Their music continues to astonish listeners over 60 years after Django’s death.

Django’s music was kept alive by the gypsies and preserved on 100’s of 78 RPM records. It is now undergoing a huge renaissance, with Hot Club style bands carrying on the tradition all over the world. SWINGOLOGY is dedicated to bringing this music to new fans in Nova Scotia. We are available for concerts, festivals, weddings, clubs and cabarets, banquets, conventions, and other private and corporate events.
